Used this ten years ago in Michigan; two people for a whole year and ended up with only 2 inches of leftovers in the bottom- great system.

I've used one at 2 residences and my workplace as a demonstration. Smart design for all season use, even in cold climates. Great for food waste of all kinds, and pet waste too; rodent proof. Requires well drained soil location. The underground basket is vulnerable to damage during the rare episodes of emptying, and if you ever try to move it beware, as the basket rim is likely to crack. But replacement parts are available at reasonable cost.

we've loved our green cone, but have found that we need more accelerator here in vermont.
also, we had to put rocks around the base to keep
some critters from getting in. they did some creative digging.

Love this thing! Cannot believe how much we have cut back on our garbage. One garbage bag a month, if that?!

We have used the Green Cone for over 6 years here in west central Wyoming. It has disposed of all of our meat and bone scraps that could not
be fed to the dog as well as all of our butchered chicken innards (over 100). We are very satisfied with the product. No smell, no rodents - just works.

I will recommend not to hold back until you earn enough amount of cash to buy different goods! You can get the loans or just student loan and feel fine

We have been using the Green Cone for a year on Terceira in the Azores. It is in a sunny location year round and works great. My brother on West Vancouver Island recommended this system, so we brought one from Victoria. There is a good recycling program here which makes us almost garbage free with maybe one small grocery bag a month.

Some cautionary notes: well-built but I remember following the instructons and thnking afterwards that I would have done things in a different order. I live at the very northern foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and the soil is stony red clay, and as another reviewer notes, "requires well drained soil location." It held my kitchen scraps for four years with no smell and no pests but requires regular application of the compost booster. When I needed to move it, though, much clay had filtered into the scraps in the basket, much of the contents were only partially digested, and the wet clay/compost mix was heavy and messy and had to be emptied with a shovel before I could retrieve the basket .
